Four Handless Alternatives to Bridesmaid Bouquets

With all the running back and forth that comes with a wedding, it can be daunting to keep track of every accessory. Another family photo? Why is there one Bridesmaid without a bouquet? Here are some fashion tips for your bridal party that frees up their hands and thus frees up the mental workload so you can spend more time enjoying the wedding.

  1. Corsages

It’s no arcane secret that wedding corsages are becoming passé. Even the parents and grandparents of the couple are wearing them less and less, but the traditional accessory has become smaller and less obtrusive over the past decades –modernizing it to a style that offers comfort and class. A matching set can create mosaic-like symmetry for all the photo-ops you and your party will take that has everyone tilting to the left or right.

  1. Wristlet

The simple wristlet. This style optimizes elegance and mobility. They can be adorned in the same chromatic scale as the dresses, or with complementary colors (violet to azure, pink to scarlet).

  1. Boutonnière

Wait, wait, wait, I hear you in protest. Boutonnières are for men. Well, remember how I said that traditional corsages are becoming smaller and smaller as they move towards modernity? They are inching closer and closer to boutonnières. The difference is negligible at this point. You can ask the florist for a small corsage with a bow or pin. If you are making your own, you may want to consider fresh or silken flowers over traditional dried ones as they will stand up longer to the stresses of hugging and dancing.

  1. Floral Tiara

Gone are the days of large, unwieldy head pieces. You can order or DIY a simple floral headpiece that are flexible and thus comfortable. The key here is variety with designs like the ultra-thin head vine, the floral halo or a full-on crystalline tiara. You can even adorn the flowers with stylized gems in the in the center. The scaling can be as extravagant or simple as you want, while still giving you and your bridesmaids the freedom of your hands.
